I'm also unsure of which hi def texture mod to use. The reddit one seems to have been removed as outdated. When samson talks about installing the 'hi-def texture pack' in the first post, is he talking about the All in one + Ultimate HD pack
(https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/5e1cbp/allinone_doom_3_bfg_vr_mod_texture_pack_guide/)
or the Hi Def pack
(http://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-bfg-hi-def)? Because I tried installing the Hi Def pack and the game crashes when loading a level.
Also, is there a way to show the screen on my monitor at fullscreen (if someone wants to see me playing)?
On moddb the two most popular ones for DOOM 3 BFG seem to be:Doom 3 BFG: UltimateHD v2.1
Doom 3 BFG Hi def 3.0
Can anyone advise on which to use?- @Sinstalker21
First, make a clean install..(delete everything from the game folder, then use the repair function in Steam)
Download the main mod file Doom3BFGVR_FP_OculusNativeAlpha015.zip
and extract it to the game folder.
For high res texures, don't use the mod pack from the video. Download these 3 files instead:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/perfected-doom-3-version-500/addons/perfected-doom-3-texture-pack-v30-roe-patch
Extract the zip files and open the pk4 files with winrar and extract the 'texture' folder to
'doom 3 bfgbase'
Scanned back and the above is Syndroid's advice from January - Doom 3 BFG edition is available for £3.07 on gamersgate if anyone doesn't have it already.
https://uk.gamersgate.com/DD-DOOM3BFG/doom-3-bfg-edition - Loving this MOD. Its much more refined now since last time I used it last last ear....moved house since so been busy!
Im using it with the texture MOD, only textures, (moving folder only basically.)
However, always found the gun noises a bit flaky and weak. I loved Trenz sounds, but cant find that MOD for BFG. Also dont like the corpses vanishing so quickly, used to have a MOD that kept them around for a while.
So does anybody know of any sound MODS that will work here that does not drastically change game play like the overhaul MOD.
Cheers - Im having some problems with running the main campaign. I can run ROE and the Lost Mission expansions fine but if I try to play the Doom 3 campaign it stops after the first intro (text explaining the UAC) and the standard ...program stopped responding.
Any ideas? - The mod is really neat and well done, however I seem to have some problems with scaling. Everything is just huge (soda cans, computers, guns, doorways etc). I've tried chaning the World Scaling setting but it does nothing, seems like none of the profile changes do anything. Anyone know how to fix this?
Are these still the best high res textures to use for this mod?@Sinstalker21

I ended up using this texture pack for the vr mod rather than the older ones suggested in this thread. I've only had time to play about half way through but seems to be working well.

Scanned back and the above is Syndroid's advice from January- I can't figure out how to unbind the next / previous weapon bound to right stick up / down.

I figured it out. Just bind the same button and it unbinds.I can't figure out how to unbind the next / previous weapon bound to right stick up / down.
I'm constantly accidentally switching weapons while turning.0- Repost of my post from F4CEP4LM's thread in general discussion:
My vanilla install of Doom 3 BFG VR works fine, I downloaded the Ultimate HD pack after, but somewhere along the line when trying a duplicate clean install of Doom 3 BFG VR with the texture pack the NPCs arms/hands disappear. I'm trying just the models and textures folders in the base directory. - Right, I put this VR mod away months ago due to the performance issues also discussed in this thread. Happy to report the new build runs great.
Decided to give the HD texure pack a go, but as someone unfamiliar with the game engine - aren't these .tga files supposed to OVERWRITE something? There's no filename collisions whatsoever if I copy the 'models' or 'texture' folders into the 'base' folder on the game.PCVR: CV1 || 4 sensors || TPcast wireless adapter || MamutVR Gun stock V3

WMR: HP Reverb - I don't know how Doom 3 modding works as I've never done it (used to mod Quake tho), but I think the vanilla game files are packed into large files somewhere there in the base directory. I'm pretty sure to mod doom 3 at a basic level all you do is copy the mod files into the base folder and the game automatically uses them instead of the vanilla(?)... I'm probably wrong.
- @Mot666 - Roger that. I'll give it a shot.
The readme file mentions seated/standing mode, but I simply can't find the option in the menus - help?!
Is it just me or doesn't this forum has a 'search thread' function?!PCVR: CV1 || 4 sensors || TPcast wireless adapter || MamutVR Gun stock V3

Cheers mate. I had a look for the seated/standing option, I couldn't see it either.@Mot666 - Roger that. I'll give it a shot.- Just played a bit with the texture/model folders copied. ZERO difference - I don't think this method works.PCVR: CV1 || 4 sensors || TPcast wireless adapter || MamutVR Gun stock V3

WMR: HP Reverb - *sigh* now it crashes every time I enter the room where the sentry crawler is shooting at some foes.

WMR: HP Reverb - My mistake. I was sure I read that copy/pasting files was one way to mod Doom 3.
- Well, I wiped the dir, and did a clean re-install with no texture pack, and I'm now a couple of hours in. Despite a few annoyances with the touch controls on the PDA and various screens, I gotta say it's a very good VR port.PCVR: CV1 || 4 sensors || TPcast wireless adapter || MamutVR Gun stock V3

WMR: HP Reverb - Really love this game,
it is amazing when I am pointing the flashlight around and shooting the guns with the touch controllers it is very immersive.
and just when I think I am used to everything, some monster will jump out and scare the crap out of me.
it has some bugs but is still amazingly fun.
I tried to install the texture pack but the game soon crashed and I could not get it going again, I uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times and nothing,
then I read about a config file, and found out that when you uninstall it does not remove some files that are located other places besides the Doom directory.
Deleted that config file and reinstalled and it's working again,
I didn't think the high def texture pack really added that much to the game,
if you walk around and look at stuff it is a little more clear, but to me that's not why I am playing the game, so I am just playing without it now.
have played most of the way through and it has crashed 4 or so times but that's not a big deal.
thanks for making this awesome VR mod. - *sigh* performance issues have crept in again.. cpu usage around 50% and gpu around 60%, and it chops along at 45fps in many areas in Alpha sector 4.

WMR: HP Reverb - well - got this working fine and then got stuck early on on Mars with bridge that drops (or in my case didnt). went to restart the level incase i missed something - now crashes every time (even with deleting Generated folder). Reinstalling whole thing again inc HD textures (7GB+ Base) and see if that fixes matters but not holding out hope: shame as it was working terrifically upto now
- How do you walk in this game? i press walk and avatar just run a little (in third person mode) and im still standing.0
this should get you going, its a great tutorialHow do you walk in this game? i press walk and avatar just run a little (in third person mode) and im still standing.- @Samson any update on when version 22 will be ready for official release?
- Hey Samson and everyone involved in the making of the Doom 3 BFG VR mod, you guys blew the AAA competition out of the water.
- yep still the best doom experience for vr! *tips hat*
- Hello, I'm sorry I have a stupid question. I am brand new here. I followed the instructions and installed doom 3, the .21 mod and the texture pack. The game starts and runs fine in normal windows. I enabled unknown sources. but, every time I launch the game its only on the computer not the headset. when I have the headset on I goto the oculus lobby. what am I missing? Again sorry for the dumb question.
- edited January 2018Damn middle-endians!.
I saw the title and thought oooooo Doom 3 got an update on the 3rd of December that i missed
edit... 2500 posts, a nice round number. the ocd in me thinks i should never post again and keep it like that (am sure other members of this forum would be happy to support that decision too )Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR
are you using the new .exe to launch it?Hello, I'm sorry I have a stupid question. I am brand new here. I followed the instructions and installed doom 3, the .21 mod and the texture pack. If you want want to play the uncensored games with vanilla Doom 3 BFG edition, copy the uncensored games, then go back to your Doom 3 BFG Edition folder. Click on 'base', then click on 'wads'. When you're there, rename the original Doom games already there (DOOM.WAD or DOOM2.WAD) so they won't be overwritten, then paste the uncensored games. In order to install the sourceport, download and extract the indicated contents, create a separate, new folder for your updated Doom3 and put the extracted files in the created folder. Then find your original Doom3 folder, enter the 'base' directory, copy all the files entitled in a smiliar fashion.
